PROF. KOKILA LANKATHILAKE KONASINGHE

    Kokila Lankathilake Konasinghe is a Professor in Law and the Head of the Department of Public and International Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, She is the Coordinator of the M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes and the founding Director of Centre for Environmental Law and Policy (CELP) at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. She is a member of the Commonwealth Futures Climate Research Cohort 2021-2022 of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and has represented Sri Lankan official delegation at the United Nations Climate Change COP 27, in Egypt. Prof. Konasinghe also represented Sri Lanka in producing the South Asian Report on Climate Change (a United Nations Millennium Fellowship Programme) and country report on International Disaster Management Laws and Policies (a SAARC collaborative project with International Red Cross and Red Crescent Society).

    Prof. Konasinghe is renowned for her contribution in academia as a lecturer, researcher and conference chair. She was a visiting researcher and a teaching fellow at Erasmus University, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, University of Granada, Spain and Jindal Global University, India. She is also a teaching fellow of Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai, India. She collaborates many research programmes with the Special Centre for Disaster Research at Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. She was awarded the University of Colombo Senate Award for Research Excellence (General) for Legal Studies in 2020. Prof. Konasinghe is a Chair in the South Asian Postgraduate Law Conference series (a collaboration of universities representing 6 countries from South Asia) and International Conference on Environmental Justice series (a collaboration of 6 universities from Asia, Europe and the United States).
